This helps us pick where and when to book. It can't tell us whether to open on a given day — that's still the anemometer and the manufacturer's limit. Scores come from 30-year averages, so a market scoring 90 still has bad Saturdays and one scoring 50 still has beautiful ones. Populations are metro-area. The 24 blocks under each market are its full year in half-month steps. Playable days counts real historical days where the high stayed between 60 and 95°F, rain came in under 0.10 inches, and the fastest sustained wind stayed under our limit — all on the same day. It counts whole days, not operating hours, so it can't yet tell whether the rain fell at 2am or 2pm. That matters: Gulf Coast storms peak mid-afternoon and Southern Plains storms peak overnight, so Florida reads better here than it should and Oklahoma reads worse.
